Sustainability is partly about having the “right plant in the right place”, but the right plant is not just about species selection; it’s about the quality of the plant material, most of which is hidden below the soil level.

The “right place” is more than just location; the soil in which the plant will live and grow is critical. Recent research and experience has allowed us to refine the “right plant in the right place,” and more closely approach true sustainability.

Dr. Neil Hendrikson is Northeast Technical Representative for the R.A. Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories in Charlotte, NC. He conducts research, provides technical support for Bartlett throughout the country as well as internationally, and gives numerous lectures and workshops for both the green industry and other interested groups. He is a Certified Arborist, NJ Certified Tree Expert, and a member of the Society of American Foresters”.

Dr. Hendrinkson holds a Ph.D from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
